What happened to the New York Yankees? Wasn't it only a few days ago that they had a ten-game record of 9-1? They zoomed past .500 and, so it was said, would soon overtake and overwhelm the Boston Red Sox. Every sports page you found in the barbershop ran on at length about the Yankee miracle.
I hate to underwhelm you Yankee fans, but your team's rocket stopped rising. The Yankees topped out at .500, their ten-day record is an unexciting 5-5, they're 11 games behind the Red Sox, and the baseball writers have moved on to a new topic. Maybe Tampa Bay just started to make its move.
Sorry Yankees. You're still stuck in the Bronx.
