For my money, the suicide squeeze is still the most exciting play in baseball. An inside-the-park homer is its only rival.
That's why I enjoyed Saturday's victory over the White Sox so much. Angel Pagan ran it like a genuine pro, and Ryan Theriot laid down a perfect bunt.
I'm one of those old guys who's seen altogether too many over-the-fence home runs. Big deal. Here's another steroid-bloated hero sending the ball out of the park.
(I did enjoy Soriano's homer, and I don't think he uses steroids. He's so good he doesn't need them.)
Anyway, my advice to Lou Piniella is keep them guessing. Try anything. That's how you win ballgames.
