Crash

I just watched a movie called Crash. It purports to be a thriller with a message.

The best thing about the movie is the convoluted plot, during which viewers can try to answer some of the many questions the plot raises.

The message implicit in the plot is that the way we treat people who are different from ourselves may set off a series of events that leads to a tragedy. If you mistreat someone because of his skin color, this may lead to another event far worse that the first one.

The problem with the message is that I already agree with it, but some people do not. The one's who disagree are unlikely to attend the movie. The movie, therefore, preaches to the converted.

The message might convince young children who are not yet set in their ways. But the film is too complex, too violent, and too full of foul language for children.
