First-Year Player Draft

As New Moon reported on day one of the first-year player draft, the Cubs picked up high-school infielder Josh Vitters, the third overall pick.

Also on day one, the Cubs grabbed two young catchers, Josh Donaldson and Preston Clark. No one reported if they had enough boxing experience to catch Carlos Zambrano.

On day two, the Cubbies got right-handed pitcher Ryan Acosta and infielder Victor Sanchez.

These were the most promising picks. If even one of them makes it into the majors, I'll win the Illinois lottery.
