Cubs Lose and Lose

How can we collect thirteen runs against the Rangers, the last-place team in the American League, and still lose the game? The Rangers got only nine hits.

First there was the forlorn rundown attempt. Then there were the two barely missed catches in the outfield. But Bowen, the new catcher, performed just right.

So what happened? What happened is what always happens. The Cubs simply lose. They have the habit of losing.

What will break the habit? If I knew the answer to that question, I could have Lou Piniella's job.
