Cubs Pick Third Baseman

The Cubs selected high-school third baseman Josh Vitters Thursday in the first-year player draft.

It's unlikely that he'll ever break out of the Cubs farm system, but if he does I won't live long enough to see it. I'm already over 40.

Vitters comes from California, but maybe he'll get over it.

The poor kid has two big embarrassments in his past. Last year he became the Gatorade California player of the year.

Having your family name associated with a laughable word like Gatorade is almost as bad as attaching your name to Aflac, which happened to Vitters in 2006 at something called the Aflac All-American Classic.

As far as I can tell, Aflac is some sort of antacid.
