The editorial staff of New Moon is presently visiting Boston, where the Red Sox have staggered through June and into July. After demolishing all opposition early in the season, the Red Sox initiated a Bean Town version of the June Swoon.
Today, July 1, the Red Sox showed little of the spirit that moved the American Revolutionaries to cast off the yolk of English oppression, an event we will all celebrate July 4. This rebellion began here in Boston, so patriots in these parts want something good to happen in July.
Anyone who wants to celebrate a Red Sox victory on July 4 may find it a very sad event if things go as they did today. The Texas Range Boys came to Fenway this afternoon, and they thoroughly muddied the Bean Boys. We need an immediate change in direction if Independence Day is to be a happy event this year for Sox Loyalists.
