Koyie and Carlos

Jason Kendall took the day off Wednesday. Koyie Hill did not.

Hill hit 2 doubles and drove in 5 runs as he helped Carlos Zambrano become the first pitcher in the National League to win 12 games. Many of us wonder if Kendall would like to take another day off.

The Cubs destroyed the hapless Giants 12-1.

Zambrano pitched 5 innings, struck out 3, walked 2, and gave up 2 hits. He also used his bare hand to stop a line drive, which is something league-leading pitchers aren't supposed to do.

Referring to Hill, Zambrano said, "He knows what to do behind the plate." We could only add that Hill knows what to do when standing in the batter's box at that same plate.
