On Saturday, all was sweetness and joy because Ted Lilly had mowed down the the worthless Pirates. Even more, Theriot, Soriano, Ward, Lee, and Lilly himself had harassed the Bucs with game-winning RBI singles.
Now, only a day later, we find outselves in despair. Despite Carlos Zambrano's strong start in sunday's game, Pittsburgh has handed the Cubs a defeat at the season's half-way point.
Still, the Cubs stand at 44-43, a mere 4.5 games behind the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers. We still have hope. It could be worse. Or that's what I hear confidant people say.
