It's a winning formula anyway you add it up. Pitcher Hill gave the Giants only 2 runs and 2 hits over 8 innings while catcher Hill caught more pitches than I can count and gave the Cubs a 1-zip lead in the third with a me-only homer.
Meanwhile, Ryan Theriot at shortstop made spectacular plays look so easy that anyone could make them, even all us aging baby boomers. Actually, we could not make them in Little League, but Theriot could.
The arithmetic lesson ended in the eighth inning, when Aramis Ramirez hammered a two-run double that lifted the Little Bears to a 3-2 win over the big bad Giants.
End of arithmetic lesson. Be back in class Tuesday night at 7:05 PM at Wrigley Field, home of the Giant killers.
