On Tuesday, George Bush signed a bill appropriating $196 billion for his wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. On the same day, he vetoed a $150.7 bill for school aid, health care, and various other services for the American people. Bush's friends at Halliburton and other war profiteers don't need federal health care. They already have all they need.
The money for the Bush wars is in addition to an overall budget of $471 billion for the U.S. military. New Moon was unable to obtain information about specific military expenditures.
The New Moon editorial staff is made up of fiscal conservatives. The borrow-and-spend policies of the Bush-Cheney government leave us bewildered.
