Fenway Park in Boston is the only major-league baseball field to rival Wrigley Field for beauty and history.
Fenway opened in 1912. Today it still looks much the same, except that fires occurred in 1926 and 1934. In both cases, the repairs left Fenway looking basically the same as before.
Modern innovations have made few changes in Fenway Park. The scoreboard is still operated by hand. In order to enter the results of games in other cities, the operator carries a stepladder onto the outfield between innings to post the scores.
The park still has the original brick exterior. Inside, the grandstand, bleachers, and the Green Monster in left field give Fenway the close, comfortable feeling of traditional ballparks.
