Carlos Zambrano threw forty-three pitches, but the Cubs Sunday-night game with the St. Louis Cardinals was called in the bottom of the third inning after a 48-minute rain delay.
After hitting a nice infield single, Matt Murton was left stranded on first base when the rain began to fall with Midwest seriousness.
In the three innings pitched, Zambrano gave up no hits and struck out three.
No date has yet been selected for the makeup game.
