Just when you thought you had enough to worry about, disquieting news arrives from Russia.
President Vladimir Putin has announced the resumption of routine long-range bomber flights. Bombers of this type could attack or retaliate against distant countries such as the United States.
Long-range bombers are also less vulnerable in the air than on the ground, where potential enemies can attack and destroy them, as the Japanese did at Pearl Harbor.
Resumption of long-range bomber flights appears to be the Russian response to the U.S. unilateral invasion of strategic countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq.
