The Chicago Cubs have acquired right-handed relief pitcher Jose Ascanio from the Atlanta Braves. Ascanio, a native of Venezuela, is 22 years old. He reportedly has good control with his fastball, slider, and changeup. Last season, he pitched in 44 games for Double-A Mississippi, ended the season with an ERA of 2.54. In 78 innings he struck out 77 and walked only 18.
