Opening Day

I like to get the season off to a good start by going to the first game at Wrigley Field. But is March 31 really the best date on the calendar to get things moving? Won't a lot of us risk falling down on the ice? What if some outfielder loses the ball in the snow and gets hit in the head?

Speaking of ice, what if the Wrigleyville Hockey Team is still playing at Wrigley when the team is trying to take batting practice? This could lead to trouble. And if someone hits Carlos Zambrano with a puck, I predict a bench-clearing brawl.

To the powers that be, I say give this more thought. Wait until the infield thaws.
