Boston pitcher Josh Beckett overwhelmed the Los Angeles Angels Wednesday in the first game of their best-of-five series. At one point Beckett retired 19 batters in a row. Beckett's record in the regular season was 20-7. The Red Sox won 4-0.
Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz provided the offensive muscle for the Red Sox. Youkilis hammeded a solo homer over the Green Monster in the first inning. Ortiz lofted a two-run homer in the third inning.
