Although the Cubs had the day off Thursday, the Milwaukee Brewers did not. The Brew Boys played the Braves in Atlanta, and the Braves gave the Cubs a nice gift.
Atlanta beat Milwaukee 3-1. This drops the Milwaukee record for the season to 78-74, which puts them 1.5 games behind the division-leading Cubs.
The Cubbies must continue to win every ballgame and every series. We cannot assume that we can make it into the playoffs by watching the Brewers lose. Every Cub game is crucial.
The Braves gave the Cubs a nice gift, but don't count on another one every day.
