The press and the Bush administration are worried about Iranian fast boats. Five of these boats apparently approached three U.S. warships as they sailed into the Persian Gulf, and the Pentagon got all upset. They were afraid the Iranians might launch an attack.
By contrast, the Iranian authorities did not get upset. A spokesman said that once the men in the fast boats saw whose warships were sailing by, they turned and left.
Consider the nature of a fast boat. These things are about twice the size of a rowboat that you might use to go fishing. About the only weapons you could take on one of these things is an assault rifle.
What are Bush and the Pentagon really worried about?
