It's quite refreshing when a former C.I.A. agent drops the phony veil of secrecy and tells you what you already knows. That's what ex-spy John Kiriakou did when he described "waterboarding" and then said that the practice is a form of torture.
It's too bad the new attorney general can't see what the rest of us can. I can't explain anything the president and vice-president might say. They use a form of English that wasn't around when I learned how to talk.

Bush Denies Knowledge of Torture Tapes
The CIA has destroyed the videotapes that would have proven that the U.S. uses torture in its interrogation of prisoners of war. Bush and Cheney previously authorized use of "enhanced interrogation techniques." These techniques include sleep deprivation, extreme cold, hitting, waterboarding, and other forms of torture.
Now Bush claims that he "did not remember" anything about the tapes. He may also deny that he authorized the techniques used. When all else fails, you can always lie.
