Rich Hill and the Chicago Cubs will attack the worthless Houston Astros tonight at Minute Maid Park in the state of TX.
"Minute Maid Park" may be the most stupid name for a ballpark ever invented. It reveals the worst elements of major league baseball today.
The Cubs will have to do without the help of Alfonso Soriano, who was injured in Sunday's game with the Mets.
For a bit of good news, Kerry Wood pitched one inning of relief and made turkeys out of the batters.
Some guy named Glavine pitched for New York.

Alfonso Soriano
For Cub fans, the big news at Tuesday's All-Star Game was Alfonso Soriano's home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. The homer cleared the right-field fence with room to spare.
The Cub left fielder hit a two-run blast that brought the National League within one run of the American League. That, however, was as far as the rally went, with the American League finishing off a 5-4 victory.
Derrek Lee also appeared in the game and hit a single to center field in the eighth inning, after which he stole second.
The season takes off again on Friday, when the Houston Astros arrive at Wrigley Field for an afternoon game. Carlos Zambrano will lead the Cubs into battle.
With any luck, the Cubs may still finish the season above .500.

Alfonso Soriano
Alfonso Soriano has been named National League Player of the Month for June, and you couldn't find a more deserving player. Soriano hit .336, with 11 home runs, 18 RBIs, and 41 hits. Twenty of those hits went for extra bases, with seven doubles and two triples.
Soriano has also been picked for his sixth All-Star Game in a row.
Soriano got off to a slow start in April and May, but he came on like gangbusters in June. Lou Piniella has speculated that the warmer weather may have helped. I know it helped me, so I won't debate the point.

Leadoff Homers
If you want to see Alfonso Soriano hit a home run, you should get to Wrigley Field before the game starts.
Soriano is a rare slugger who likes the position of leadoff hitter. He likes to swing at the first good pitch.
And he likes to swing hard.
